This project is an impressive partnership of community commitment and love between Mercy Care and Mercy Housing Southeast – one of the largest affordable housing organizations in the US founded in the 80s by Sisters of Mercy and located in Denver, CO. Mercy Care will ultimately provide a LEED SILVER health care facility right next door to this senior housing project. Situated on a 1.6-acre site in northeast Greater Atlanta, this four-story multi-family development will ensure that those 62 and older who are of low-income. Many units are also reserved for veterans. This development ensures that its senior residents will have an outstanding place to live with the best of medicinal care at their fingertips.
“This was the first time that Mercy Care and Mercy Housing Southeast have collaborated together,” notes Alrich. “Although collaboration efforts were discussed in the past, this was the first opportunity they actually had to do it. Because of the success of this project, people are really taking notice of this collaboration and recognizing its brilliance. These organizations brought affordable housing and healthcare together on the same campus. You can walk across the driveway to one of the best healthcare facilities in the Southeast. There’s a demonstration kitchen inside where they can come over and show the residents healthy cooking activities. It’s amazing. You just don’t get any better than that.”
As the Owner’s Representative for the construction of Mercy Park, LDG Consulting served as an extension of the Mercy Housing Southeast’s staff, providing critical guidance throughout the lifecycle of the project and protecting their interests at all times. “We’ve been working together since 2011,” says Alrich. The Mercy Park project is LDG’s eighth project with Mercy Housing Southeast. LDG served on their behalf for the Savannah Gardens project as well. “Relationships are everything to us. Once we have a solid relationship established, we know we have a Client for life.”
