Legacy at Vine City in Downtown Atlanta
21 August 2020
In honor of Ten Years in Business, LDG Consulting is highlighting twelve of our top clients from this past decade. We are delighted to announce Honoree Number Five: Beverly J. Searles Foundation – a not for profit organization that provides gracious living services to elderly and disabled residents of affordable housing and other residential communities.
The Beverly J Searles Foundation (BJ Searles) was created by CRT Realty & Development to manage services and programs for Seniors aged 55 and older, especially those living in affordable housing communities. The mission of the BJ Searles is to help in God’s work to the world, ever mindful of the advice in Nehemiah 8:10, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
In addition to serving as President of BJS Foundation, Philip Searles is a member of the Board of Directors of Antioch A.M.E. Community Development Corporation. Philip joined BJS in 2008 after working as a senior auditor for BDO Seidman, LLP for two years. During his time with BDO, Philip led engagements of public companies in the telecommunications and financial services industries as well as private companies in the real estate and distribution industries.
LEGACY AT VINE CITY PROJECT
Legacy at Vine City had its historic groundbreaking in the Spring of 2018. This 20 million dollar senior affordable housing complex was developed by our non-profit client Beverly J Searles Foundation (BJ Searles) in partnership with the Higher Ground Empowerment Center (HGEC), a local church which owned the property. It’s located near the Mercedes Benz Stadium and will ultimately house 105 of Atlanta’s citizens in cozy, contemporary and fresh one and two bedroom units.
Alrich Lynch, owner of LDG Consulting, used to live in the Vine City neighborhood for nearly a decade. Early on, LDG helped to frame the discussions on MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) participation working not only with BJ Searles and HGCE but the contractor, Fairway Construction, as well. LDG also provided additional guidance and advisory services regarding the commercial real estate process and the industry to HGCE.
“On all accounts, we predict that there would be an outsized demand for these units and it would immediately have a wait list. We’ve seen this on all of our projects, which continues to highlight the lack of good quality affordable housing for seniors in this country – but definitely here in Atlanta. We continue to encourage policymakers and stakeholders to work with developers who provide projects of this quality and caliber,” said Alrich at the grand opening.
